Title from:
On Track Productions

Combining some of the best private heritage railway action of the year along with mainline footage, the 2003 HERITAGE RAILWAY ANNUAL is presented from the Festiniog Railway. Introduced by HERITAGE RAILWAY MAGAZINE assistant editor Brian Sharpe we take a look at what makes the FR tick, as well as reviewing their progress on re-instating the former Welsh Highland route, the latest phase of which opened during 2003.

Features Include:

Coverage of the activities of 60800 Green Arrow. the popular locomotive is seen on the mainline, including its regular Scarborough Flyer working. Here it also worked on the same day as the Scarborough Spa Express which presented the rare opportunity of seeing two steam locomotives in a mainline station at the same time. The V2 is also captured whilst hauling A4 pacific Mallard from York to doncaster and during a visit to the Bluebell Railway.
The Severn Valley railway spring Branchline gala was supported by HERITAGE RAILWAY MAGAZINE and took on a Welsh branch theme. Action from this event includes the home based fleet, plus visiting GWR 0-6-2 tank number 5673 and the Taff Vale tank, which was teamed up with an impressive looking genuine GWR branch type train.
Diesel galas at the East Lancashire Railway & the Great Central Railway feature, with an excellent selection of preserved heritage diesel classes represented at the two September events. The new signal box at Swanage station was commissioned in 2002. we went along to take a behind the scenes look at the box and how it is now controlling train movements around the Swanage Railway terminus, plus how it will fit into future expansion of operations at the railway.
